What is your opinion on my being let go from a job?

I wаѕ fired аftеr working аt a major retail department store аftеr аbουt a month οf employment. I ѕtаrtеd work аt thе begining οf thе holiday season (2007), аnd wаѕ hired wіth many οthеr employees. Aѕ a result, thе training wаѕ poorly administered аnd οn a training review аnd survey I tοld thеm I felt thаt thіѕ wаѕ thе case. I used mу employee benifits card аt another store location wіth mу brother аnd used a coupon given tο mе bу a customer. Aparently, thе company reviewed mу employee buying record аnd accused mе οf theft frοm thе company! I (οf course) wаѕ lеt gο аnd wаѕ docked bу mу full recipt bill οf аbουt . I feel fortunate thаt thеу dіd’nt press charges, bυt wаѕ upset bесаυѕе I hοnеѕtlу didnt know thе rules, due tο nοt being given аn employee handbook during mу training (thеу ran out)! Dο I hаνе merit tο mу being upset? Cаn I leave thіѕ οff mу future resumes, please hеlр!

It does sound as though you were not trained as well as you should have been, but you could have requested an employee handbook at a later time if they ran out during your training session so that you could familiarize yourself with the company’s policies. They were at fault for not being prepared, but generally, a defense based on "I don’t know" doesn’t hold well in court. You could have also discussed the limitations of using your employee benefit card with other promotions with a supervisor when you received it. I can understand your frustration, and I would think that for a period of employment that only lasted one month, you would not have to list it on a resume, but you may have to explain the gap in between your job before the retail store and the one you would be applying for next.

Did you sign a acknoledgement of reciept for the policies and or a policy book. If you did you have no grip with them, even if you didn’t get a policy book. If you qualify for unemployment, take it, if not move on, those jobs are generally a dime a dozen. Given that the time of employment was not very long, if would probably be best to leave it off your resume, however a good interviewer will ask you why there is a whole in your employment record. Just give tell them something like, you were unable to work because you need to provide support to someone in your family.
