Survey question. friends vs associates ?

I am doing a research project for my psychology class. I need as many answers as I can get. Tell me your personal experiences and opinions on the question if you like. make sure you put yes, no or it depends in your answer.

Yes, to an extent.
I think they should be sociable and approachable, yes but not too casual, like "Hey, Mike, how’s it hangin?" You know what I mean. It’s good that they would get along, but if they chum around too much, they’ll be inefficient and there would be too much of a distraction.
