During the past couple of months I’ve seen more than 80 different scams, attempts to hijack your address book and/or links posted on YA which spread viruses. I’m by no means an IT safety expert, but I researched them all to be able to help other users. If somebody presents a link like yours, I never click on it, by rightclicking it, I’m able to copy the linked address and put it in a .txt file, then I take a look at the address. About the link you posted: yes, Yahoo does conduct surveys, what is rather phishy about this though is the fact that the Yahoo name appears nowhere in the url, so I researched the company’s name "confirmit.com" and found them to be a legit market research tool which works with rather large companies in the US. Then I found this forum: http://forum.419eater.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=67350&view=previous where a user posted a French message with a url very similar to yours: http://forum.419eater.com/forum/ref.php?url=http://survey.confirmit.com/wix/p303413224.aspx?r=1166913&s=HBYFQTHM . From what I can tell so far, the survey you did may very well be legit, but scammers and spammers easily forge just about everything there is nowadays, so I suggest to get in touch with customer care and ask them, whether that survey was indeed conducted in their name. This is the contact info:
Go to this online help form to describe your problem: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/edit/general.html
or send a mail to customer support: cc-advoc@yahoo-inc.com
If Yahoo confirms that it is indeed their survey, I’d appreciate it if you let the users know by adding details to your question (the pencil icon). If they tell you that it is not their survey, I’d like to know that too for future references. Should the question be resolved/closed by the time you receive an answer from Yahoo, you may use the comment button underneath your question to let us know what is going on. I’ll put your question on my "private watchlist" (the save button underneath your question) to follow up on this case.
