> > > > >Please look this over and let me know of any suggestions you might have, at all. Thank you so much! It’s the first one I’ve ever written. There is a heading at the top and a signature at the bottom, but I obvoiusly don’t want the internet to have them. Thanks!< < < < < <

January 29, 2011

To Whom It May Concern,

I am extremely excited about the possibility of becoming an analyst at Goldman Sachs this summer. I first heard about the opportunity through a mentoring program called B3. Afterwards, I visited a career fair and an information session put on by B3 to learn more about the company, where I talked to various encouraging representatives. I am very involved in the community at my university; in addition to a community service club, during the first semester I joined a sorority and was elected by my peers to serve on the Leeds School of Business student government. I also have many past experiences that would greatly benefit Goldman Sachs, as evidenced in my attached resume.

As a student council representative for three years at my high school and a newly elected one here at the University of Colorado, I have much experience in working with a team towards a goal while keeping the student body’s needs and wants in mind. I have also worked as a lifeguard, involving not only exemplary observation of minute details but the carrying out of specific instructions while pleasing the customers visiting the pool. Both of these positions have enhanced my customer-service mindset and strengthened my persistence in planning, coordinating, and making sure activities and ideas follow through in a team-oriented setting.

In addition, I have experience in dealing with different personality types and talking to influential people on a professional basis. DECA, an association of business students, inspired my love for the field of business through challenges at both local and national levels. For one especially difficult competition, my partner and I chose to study the training program at a local country club. We compared this to other similar programs by its competition, took surveys of both members of the club and employees in regards to satisfaction levels, interviewed base-level employees, managers, and the owner, and brainstormed ways that it could be improved. The information was then compiled into a final project and presented to a judge. This was completed over the course of several months, and we settled for nothing less than perfection. All of the hard work was well worth it as we won seventh place internationally.

In short, some key characteristics that I can offer Goldman Sachs include (these are bullets):
Dedication to responsibilities
High level of involvement
Future-oriented focus
Well-rounded background
Perfectionism
Integrity
Interest in the history and values of Goldman Sachs, as well as a curiosity and willingness to learn about finance

I know that I would be a great fit for your firm. I am always looking for new ways to grow through professional encounters and personal challenges, and feel that an internship at Goldman Sachs would encompass both of these desires. I would be grateful for the opportunity to further discuss my qualifications and the position available in person. You may contact me directly at any time.

I hope to hear from Goldman Sachs soon and appreciate your consideration.

Sincerely,

While conduction employee satisfaction surveys, some companies choose an outside vendor to prepare and analyze the information and report it back to the employer, rather than them conducting the survey in-house. My question is; what do you feel are the pros and cons of using an outside vendor to conduct these surveys? I think one pro may be that employees may feel more open, honest, and safe reporting information knowing that it is being sent to a third party for review, then sent back to their employer in a statistical format rather than an in-house HR representative analyzing the raw data. Obviously one can is having to pay an outside vendor. Thank you for your input.

My supervisor upates me on the agenda of the meetings held with our company at night (I am a day time employee and I’m not there at night when they have meetings). The latest update that he gave me was that one of the girls who works on the night crew was seen shopping at Wal-Mart on the clock when she was supposed to be at work. When the supervisor checked her time card it said she had punched out at normal time, but he looked at his watch and it wasn’t even that time yet. He suspected her of tampering with the time clock and stealing time. When he confronted her about it she denied it and said that somebody else must have messed with the time clock and adjusted the time on her time card. Who else would do that to her own card but her? So anyway, he continued to say that everybody on the night crew denied tampering with the clock or her card, so the only other alternative was me! I was floored that he would even insinuate this! For one, I work during the day, why would I want to come back at night and tamper with anyone else’s hours!? This is what I explained to him and he kept saying, well , you’re right, you’re right, it doesn’t make sense to me either. Then he would turn right around in the same breath and repeat, "Remember, no tampering with the time-clock." I was so mad I could have spit. I have worked there almost 5 years and have always been honest and do the job I am paid for and then some. This girl has been working for us not even a month yet. I reminded him that this was the reason he fired our night time floor man (waxes/buffs floors), because he was actually caught tampering with the clock and stealing time. Then he quickly reminded me yet again, "Well, make sure you are not tampering with the time clock." I told him I felt disrespected. Especially since he had just finished reading to me the results of my customer satisfaction survey with everyone in the building saying how pleased they are with my work, …and then accuse me of tampering with someone else’s time card who works on a different shift. Wow.

I was asked to take an employee satisfaction survey, we do one yearly. I was brutally honest and filled out the comment section as well. I voiced things most people were afraid to voice at work. I felt they needed to be said.
What are my rights in case my manager(s) decided to go on a witch hunt and find out who said what? The survey was 100% anonymous. They aren’t supposed to guess who said what. I filled it out on a computer too.
no one was watching me, and the computer has 3 programs on it. I work at a restaurant, there literally is no way anyone could spy on my computer remotely.

Section 6. Access to breast feeding for public-sector employees demonstration project.

This is the third time i have worked at the place I am working and this time its been for about a year and a half the other two times total 4/5 months altogether but both of those times it was understood by all parties to be a temporary arrangement. I have NEVER been written up, I score extremely well on secret shopping and satisfaction surveys, my register is generally perfect and I have only called in twice and in both of those instances I found people to cover me not leaving it to management. So why may I be fired? It’s because one of my family members is a member of management which is against company policy. I know the first time the manager got it approved by someone higher up than themselves and it was to be that I wasn’t to be scheduled the day the family member in question was scheduled and that I was to refer to the other members of management. I’m not sure if it was approved the second time or this time but in both cases I was hired as a rehire not a new higher so would that initial approval carry over and if they do terminate me is there anything I can do other than file for unemployment? I am more than qualified to work in this field besides the time I have worked at this place I have more than another year in the field along with a higher level of education than many of the employees.

I currently work for Sprint Corp in California and have for the past 2 years. I have always been full-time, and a great employee, I have the highest ranking Csat in my district, for those that don’t know what it is that’s a customer satisfaction survey they do, out of 100 possible i rank 99.99 for the last 6 months, with over 70 surveys, needless to say I am an asset to Sprint.

Well in the middle of December I almost died, due to a double ruptured appendix with absess and severe bacterial poisoning.
I was in the hospital well over a week, had surgery, lost 30lbs of muscle, and it took me over 2 months to recover, in fact almost 3 months later I am still on anti biotics and suffer some sickness due to bacterial infections.
During this time, I obviously couldn’t work, so I went on disability, i filed the appropriate forms etc. Well Sprint isn’t wanting to pay me my disability, they have told me excuses ranging from, "we have that you went to work on such date" which was before i actually ever came back, to excuses like "oh we are missing this form" which is Bs cause i made they got them all and even verified. I have a ticket for them to fix it but its been 5 days and no progress.
When i was filing for disability, there were so many forms but i had never filed before so I didn’t think anything of it till my doctor said and i quote "wow I have been in practice for over 30 years in California and never had to fill out so much paper work for a disability claim".
He is a general practitioner and a double surgeon, so I am sure he has seen his share of claims.

Needless to say I am pretty pissed at this point. And about a week from getting s lawyer.

What are my options ? How long can they screw with me ?
